QD Primary School and FC3 Chicken Rice advance to the Singapore Season 1 Campus Finals

On 30 May 2020, 19 teams gathered from various Polytechnics to battle for two spots at the Singapore PVP Esports Season 1 Campus Championships. It looked like FC3 Chicken Rice from Singapore Polytechnic were going to win it all at first as they dominated all who stood in their way until the finals where the resurgence of QD Primary School from Ngee Ann Polytechnic was too much for them to handle. Nevertheless, both teams managed to qualify for the Singapore finals later this month.

We spoke to both teams to find out their thoughts on qualifying for the next round. Due to their exams, FC3 Chicken Rice had no time to celebrate since qualifying for the finals.

“We probably won’t be celebrating, cause the Campus Qualifiers were right before our exams, we have all been studying since our last game played.”

Meanwhile QD Primary School were extremely cheeky in their response.

“My team plans to go on a jifan (chicken rice) tour to try SG’S TOP 10 CHICKEN RICE after circuit breaker!”

Even so, FC3 Chicken Rice were definitely surprised at their own performance in the tournament.

“We only played about 2 scrims and 5 ranked games before the Campus Qualifier, we were definitely underprepared.”

When asked for the MVP, team captain Ethan “P e b b l e .” Koh nominated himself with tongue-in-cheek.

“(I) would say I was the MvP, because my team is full of trollers.”

QD Primary School, on the other hand acknowledged that it was their teamwork that helped them make it this far in the tournament, despite dropping into the lower brackets early on in the competition.

“All of our team members performed outstandingly today in their own ways and all of them had their game-changing moments, which made it really hard for us to decide who was the MVP. However, our coach decided that the title should go to Keng, whose judgement and calls both in draft and in game helped lead the team to victory.”

When asked for their thoughts on potential rivals, FC3 Chicken Rice mentioned a certain team from Republic Polytechnic and even wished them well for the upcoming Wild Card Qualifier.

“Probably Masarap, jiayou for wild-card event.”

Meanwhile, QD Primary School are not letting up in terms of their training.

“We plan to continue experimenting with new hero lineups and different rotations. We will be scrimming with other teams for practice too. We highly respect the other qualified teams as we have watched their matches on stream, and as much as we are confident, we do not want to underestimate the competition as well.”

FC3 Chicken Rice expressed their gratitude to all who had supported thus far, even if it was for Mobile Legends skins.

“Shoutout to the Tan family for sponsoring all of mine and Ryeb’s skins. We love you.”

QD Primary School: “Thank you for all the support and kind wishes! QD Primary School will do our best to continue making all of you proud!”

The Wild Card Qualifier will be held 6 June 2020 and only one team will qualify into the Singapore Finals at 28 June 2020. Catch all the action LIVE at https://bit.ly/PvPLS
